There is a story of an artist who sculpted a beautiful angel and wanted the master artist, Michelangelo, to inspect it and offer his opinion and feedback. So Michelangelo was called in. The master artist carefully looked at the sculpture from every angle, spent quite a bit of time.

Finally, he said, “Well, it lacks only one thing.” Then he turned around and walked out.

The artist didn’t know what it lacked, the artist was confused and he was embarrassed to go and ask Michelangelo. So he sent a friend to Michelangelo’s studio to try and find out what his statue of the angel lacked.

The great artist replied, “It lacks only life.”

The same could be said of a lot of people today. They have the house, the car, career, money, the spouse, and the kids. They have everything going the way that things ought to go to supposedly live life to its fullest. But there is that is something still lacking. They are still lacking life…

What IF You Don’t Know What Your Purpose Is?

The truth is that you do have a purpose…

It says it in Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you declares the lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, a hope and a future.”

Jesus knew his purpose and why he was here. Everything he did was in preparation for that purpose. Including training and counseling the disciples.

What I find interesting about all these things is that the disciples already had Jobs and things they were good at. Many of which were fishermen. Jesus never took away fishing from these men, in fact he actually multiplied it. See John 21:6.

Passion Meets Purpose For Everyone

See God doesn’t want to take things that are good for you away. If he is going to allow something that is good and that has been prospering you to fall away, isn’t it true that he has something better for you!?

John 10:10 The thief cometh not but to steal and to kill and to destroy. I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”

So how do we find our purpose?

Many plans are in a man’s mind, but it is the Lord’s purpose for him that will stand. Proverbs 19: 21

It’s like this, lets say I wrote a book, maybe an autobiography. Now This book has gone famous, its all over the world, and translated into multiple languages! Very prominent book, just took off.

And you wanted to know more about me, how I think, my character, what I sound like when I talk ect ect.

Would you read my book? Would that provide some insight into knowing me?

Well what I wrote a really incredible book, we are talking New York times best seller here, and you had a chance to sit down with me and ask me anything you wanted about me and the book, for as long as you want! Would You?

This is what we as believer have with God. Remember jeremiah 29:11

All we have to do is ask in order to find out our purpose

1 John 5:14

And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us.

John 14:13

Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

John 16:24

Until now you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.

Matthew 21:22

And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith.”

Matthew 7:7

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.

A great place to start thinking is what would I do with my time if I had all the money in the world, all of my wildest dreams had come true, house the car, all the monetary things and your kids were well off and prospering, you had total and complete financial and time freedom. What would you do with your time and by the way, think you can’t fail! Meditate on that and talk with God about it.

You have to pray, you have to ask, you have to wait upon the lord.

One key that I have learned is even though I made be afraid to do something and be outside of my comfort zone at times, that’s a great place to be. The key is that God is peace and he will lead you, he leads, guides, and directs.

And just like the enemy comes to steal kill and destroy he also forces, drives, and compels!

The point I made about the book early is critical here, if you don’t know what God sounds like, his character and truth of who he is, how would you know when he answers?

So it’s great to go to church, and hop on these podcasts but what about you.

Christianity is not meant to be a religion its meant to be about a relationship with God. This week I want to challenge you to just spend 20 minutes, its an arbitrary number I chose, just 20 minutes alone with god talking to him.

What If you Are In a Place where Your Passion doesn’t Meet your purpose?

To everything there is a season, and a time for every matter or purpose under heaven. Ecclesiastes 3: 1

Are you highly payed and have no passion?

Are you filled with passion but struggling meeting ends meet?

Low Pay/High Passion = Supplement Your Pay

High Pay/Low Passion = Supplement Your Passion

So what was Jesus’s purpose?

For this is My Father’s will and His purpose, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in and cleaves to and trusts in and relies on Him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up [from the dead] at the last day.
John 6: 40

If you would like to have a relationship with Jesus, not a religion, pray this simple prayer.

“Jesus, I repent of my sins and choose to turn away from those things, come into my heart, I make you my lord and savior.”

If you said that simple prayer, and believed it in your heart, you are now a believer/follower of Christ.
